This is no joke and IIRC the drivers are all that's left of a pair of huge MLTLs I designed for him, but couldn't take with him when he recently moved back to Hawaii: Caveman Speakers. The Troglodytes. - diyAudio

I too finally finished reading this thread with much interest. I will be my reference for me in the not too distant future. Still wish the pictures hadn't been deleted...
Thank you to all who made it such an informative read!!
Wondering about the 220Hz issue with the cabs. I have had a set of loose 416A's and 511/802D's that I have dragged around with me for about 20 yrs. I finally decided to go about building a set of 825/828 cabinets to make use of their superb design. The 416's need to be reconed as I did use them in a home stereo arrangement in my young and single days. They ended up damaged... I'll be building my own active crossover and solid state amps as well.
Might just start a new thread to document my own "Journey". That way I can contribute and get some help as I go along...
Don't recall much about this thread, but all speakers have eigenmodes between any major impedance mismatch, so with 220 Hz = ~30-31", this lines up with the woofer, though if correctly measured based on its polar response it's around 250 Hz in reality: http://redspade-audio.blogspot.com/2013/07/altec-a7-voice-of-theatre-horns-measured.html

Looks like I may have to spend some time analyzing the horn and driver's response and how I'm going to match up the high and low frequencies!
Pay no credence to the HF analysis in the link GM posted above. That fella is overlooking two important factors.
The first being the 908 driver, he does not verify that it has the proper symbiotik diaphragm(which would have a very similar rolloff to what is shown in his FR graph), and does speculate that they could have replacements indicating he has no clue what's in them for a diaphragm for sure.
The second factor is a 900 series driver on a 511. 900 series drivers have a 7/8 inch aperture, the 511 has a 1 inch entrance. While that might be acceptable in a sound reinforcement or PA application, it's a fundamental nono for hifi.
Your 802D/511 combination in proper order will be MUCH better. Consider having your 802's serviced(re-magged) by GPA for optimum performance.

Wow seems like a long time ago- I found the speakers Pano had on a walk one day. Saw them thru an open garage door. Wound up shipping them down to him.
